Project 3 : Upcycling Unwanteds "BUBTOP"

My product is called BubTop which targeted for artsy Uni Student who like to use unique stuff. This laptop sleeve is made out of cellophane gum container and ex-used pillow cover.
I chose this material because each material has its own unique features and quality.
  • Cellophane : has low permeability to liquid which give protection to the laptop. The plastic is also give extra protection when it hits something (it'll bounce back)
  • Pillow cover : It is soft, provide protection from scratch

Impact reduction:

  • The used of cellophane : made from regenerate cellulose which derived from plant that means it is 100% biodegradable.
  • Use less adhesive (more stitch)
  • Unique design; people who have something good and unique product will tend to keep their goods longer.
  • Use minimal material

  1. Using gum containers is an awesome idea, however the edges do seem a little sharp, and I'd b worried if i dropped the case with the laptop on the edges.
It would be extra cool if u had a zipper to close up the case.

  2. I like how you upcycled useless bubble gum cellophane to create a unique and a one of a kind type of design because of all the different holes, different ways each compartment is bent and if there or isn't any foil left on the underside. I was actually considering trying to use the same thing but couldn't actually think of anything to make with it hahah.

I think that it could be improved by making the case being able to close or to make the bag a bit more collapsible to be more tight fitting for smaller laptops, like the macbook air for example hehe.

Other than that, I like the creativity in this design, good work!

  3. Cool, I don't think i'd use this. I'd put it on shelf :D It's an interesting material you used there, and I like it, you even put the cushiony things inside , Likewise I was wondering what if the Laptop slipped sideways and it fell out of the slot...

  4. A very smart material to use because cellephane are constantly disposed and there are lack of use for them. I like it how the material absorbs the impact when you drop it along with some soft cushion so the laptop keeping it more secure and safe. I would probably suggest to add some sort of closure on the top so the computer won't some how slide out..but other than that good job!!

  5. Very clever choice of material, and i think you used it in the best way. I love how you can see throught the clear gum container to see the fabric, my only criticism would be to have a more interesting coloured or patterned material underneath the gum containers and maybe a strap. Other than that i think you did a really great job, well done!

  6. The material was a great choice which allowed the entire product to look elegeant and comfy to use. I love how the clear gum container was used, being able to show the product which is being used inside. Although the shape of the product may not be the best or innovative and you could have mixed and matched other materials to add to the elegance of the product. Although very impressed that this sort of material was used!
